We stayed 5 nights at the Colonna Palace in Rome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location of the hotel could not be better, you're literally in the very centre of everything. Because Rome is so big, public transport was sometimes necessary in order to see some of the "must-sees" like the Vatican and whatnot, but certainly for old town Rome everything was right there on the doorstep. The Spanish Steps are just down the road, the Trevi Fountain too, the Pantheon, all in a web of quaint cobbled streets off the main drag running down through the centre. The only bad thing was that there was some work going on while we were there but it wasn't a big problem. Overall we were very impressed. The hotel was clean, the rooms were nice and quiet and the staff were very professional and courteous and spoke good English. We'd recommend this place.

The Hotel Colonna was clean, friendly and in an ideal spot right in the centre of ancient Rome, if a little taxing on our wallets. The roof garden is really fantastic, you can enjoy breakfast with Italian coffee while looking over all of the old town. We really felt that we made the most of our short time in Rome so don't regret spending the money, we were right in the centre and this made a difference I think - even when we were too tired to go out and do anything strenuous we could just go down into the street and find one of the hundreds of charming café-bars, pubs or restaurants nearby and relax. La Dolce Vita eat your heart out!
